An Urban Devi Event
Speaker: Dr. Nancy Rothman
Description: Resentments and fears can cause us incredibly deep pain because of the anger, regret and shame that can arise from them. We’ll look at ways to unpack our resentments and fears so that we can understand the root cause of them and then surrender to let them go. This process will also help in recognizing them as they might arise so we can stop them in their tracks.
Bio: Nancy received a B.S. in Chemistry from Union College and M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Brandies University. She has been the Division Director of two National Environmental Laboratories and is currently the CEO & Principal Scientist of New Environmental Horizons, Inc., a woman-owned environmental consulting company. Most importantly, she has over 42 years of recovery from alcohol and uses her experience, strength, and hope to help others who are struggling in their addictions to change their attitudes and behaviors so they may lead happy and joyous lives. Recently, she completed leading a 12-Step workshop for Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families and has developed a series of videos for Karuna Care about the 12-Steps of Recovery to encourage people to seek recovery to aid in their growth and freedom from various addictions (to drugs, alcohol, pornography, people, food, etc.). Over the years, Nancy has counseled many women and men who have faced abusive relationships in their families, work, and communities. She helps these people bravely find their voice to face the issues square-on and then helps them to establish appropriate boundaries to stop the abuse.
Urban Devi is a monthly interactive women’s discussion circle that seeks to make spirituality accessible to women in the 21st century. Each session will focus on a theme based on topics that are of importance to women and will offer insight and practical applications from the practice of Bhakti Yoga.
